The Battle Of Chainsaws... Which one do I choose?

I need a chainsaw for my next job, which one do I choose?!

Let's start with the basics... The Stanley line of underwater chainsaws are designed for cutting all types of materials including bridge pilings, pier and dock timbers, logs, concrete, rebar, and much more. There are 3 different underwater hydraulic chainsaws offered by Stanley that can be used in different applications. You may think a chainsaw is a chainsaw, but take a closer look at the Stanley underwater chainsaws. You will see each chainsaw was designed for a specific purpose.

Let's take a dive to explore these saws.

First, we will start off with the Stanley CS06930.

The Stanley CS06930 is a hydraulic powered chainsaw used for cutting all types of wood structures underwater - including bridge pilings, pier and dock timbers, and logs. It's compact design and high torque gear motor provides divers instant chain speed to cut through the toughest timbers with ease. The power to weight ratio is significantly higher than any other wood cutting chainsaw on the market. When you buy the Stanley CS06930 brand new, it comes with a 20 inch bar and a 20 inch chain for the saw. Stanley also offers 15 inch bars and 15 inch chains as an option for the CS06 underwater hydraulic chainsaw.

The next chainsaw we will talk about is the Stanley CS113NO0.

The Stanley CS113NO0 is like the big brother to the smaller CS06. Although the CS11 and CS06 are used to cut the same materials, the CS11 is bigger, holds a longer bar and chain, and is able to give you more power when you need it the most. The CS113NO0 is an extreme duty hydraulic powered chainsaw used for cutting wood.  The CS11 also features a direct drive motor which means there is no chain coast when the trigger is released. The main feature that sets the CS11 from the CS06 is the cutting capacity. When you buy the CS113NO0 new, you will have to purchase the bar and chain separately. The most common bar and chain lengths used on the CS11 is 24 inches and 36 inches.

Last, but definitely not least is the almighty Stanley DS115000 underwater diamond chainsaw.

The Stanley DS115000 underwater diamond chainsaw is specifically designed to cut solid concrete while completely submerged in water. You can also cut square corners without over-cut and can plunge cut sea walls up to 18" thick. The Stanley DS11 also features a direct drive motor which means there is no chain coast when the trigger is released. The multi position trigger handle and wall walker reduces diver fatigue and allows for a smoother cutting experience. While running the saw, it is required to have a minimum of 20 psi water pressure running into the saw to keep saw cool and lubricated. The bar and chain are sold separately when buying the DS11 brand new.  The most commonly used bar is 18 inches long.

There are two different chains available for the DS11. There is the 18" Ultra chain and the 18" Pinnacle chain.  What's the difference? I'll tell you! The Ultra chain used used when cutting light wire mesh and soft/green concrete.  If you are cutting a tougher concrete, you will need to use the Pinnacle chain. The Pinnacle chain is used when cutting reinforced steel and heavy aggregate concrete.
